International Women’s Day is a day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women the world over. We are living through a time when women and men around the world are part of an unprecedented movement for women’s rights, equality and justice. Women’s Day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Advocating for equality, people come together to highlight steps that need to be taken for more and more women to exercise their rights.
Collective action and shared ownership for driving gender parity are what makes International Women’s Day successful. The 8th of March is a day to:
Right now women and men around the world are part of an unprecedented movement for women’s rights, equality and justice. From global marches to social media campaigns like #MeToo, women are raising their voices in unison, calling out sexual harassment, organizing for unequal pay and women’s political representation.
Over the years, Visthar has consciously sought to associate with women from all walks of life, to recognise their contributions, to celebrate their strength and to demand equal rights for women and girls. Most of our projects are centred around women and children. To know more, click on Projects.
The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day, 8 March, is “#ChooseToChallenge”. A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day. We can choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequity. We can choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world. From challenge comes change, so let’s all choose to challenge.
