At home at risk

A rapid survey series

When the pandemic struck us in 2019-20 and the world retreated to their homes, what happened to those for whom homes are not safe? A rapid survey series was conducted across seven states by 8 member organizations of Lam-Lynti Chittara Neralu (LCN) (a national network on shelter homes) to look at how the redressal ecosystem for domestic violence functioned during the #COVID19.

Voices from social media about safe shelters:

  • Shelter homes can be and ought to be a home away from home till a woman rebuilds her life.

  • Ensure inclusive shelter homes that house trans and queer persons – non-binary, inter-faith and inter-caste couples

  • Safe Shelters women help say NO to violence – crucial support structures that bolster her journey from Victim to Survivor.
