Nazar stepped into the role of Executive Director in 2026, bringing with him a reputation as a creative, out-of-the-box thinker and a seasoned development practitioner. For over twenty years, he led Visthar’s field operations in North Karnataka, serving as the driving force behind community-based development and alternative schooling initiatives. His leadership is characterised by a unique ability to inspire teamwork and collaboration. He has deep expertise in child rights, the POCSO Act, agroecology and several traditional artisanal crafts.

 

Beyond his executive responsibilities, Nazar is an acclaimed poet and actor who seamlessly integrates the arts into social activism. An accomplished author, his publications range from analytical studies on the Devadasi system to several volumes of Kannada poetry and essays on North Karnataka. In recognition of his profound contributions to social work and literature, he has been honoured with an Honorary Doctorate and prestigious accolades, including the Samajaratna Rajyotsava and Karnataka Bhushan awards.
