Kshithij Urs

Dr. Kshithij Urs is the Executive Director of IBBN – India Biochar and Bioresources Network, and Adjunct Professor (Climate Change) – National Law School of India University.  With over 20 years of transformational leadership in global organizations, Dr. Kshithij has led impactful initiatives in environmental sustainability, climate action, and social justice across India, Africa, and Australia. His expertise spans Climate science, Nature-based mitigation at scale, Adaptive governance, Policy writing, and ESG frameworks.
 
As a professor at NLSIU, Dr. Kshitij offers a pioneering course that integrates science, policy, and law to cultivate the next generation of leaders in climate policy.  He has worked to bridge Academia, high-impact Program management and Policy, including directing multi-stakeholder projects and developing strategy papers for international organizations.​
 
The academic credentials of Dr. Kshithij include a Ph.D. in water policy from NLSIU, an M.Sc. in development studies from SOAS, London, under Norwegian scholarship, and a bachelor’s degree in medicine from Bangalore University.
